I would love to see what this old farm house looked like when it was filled with a huge farm family. It must have been a wonderful place to grow up. Is there a word for lovers of old houses? I was driving around my small town today and was stunned to see the sad disrepair of some of the older homes. Mostly huge Victorians with lots of character which must cost a fortune to heat and maintain. I live in an old house and have always wondered about the people who built it. What were their lives like...did they love it as much as I do? Were they happy? I just realized what the word for lovers of old houses is- crazy! lol Thankfully my husband agrees with me that the challenges are worth the rewards. He deserves a medal for maintaining ours and implementing all those loving improvements I dreamed up through the years.

Not crazy at all! If walls could talk is perfect, I feel each house has a soul, so to speak! Such a beautiful painting with a story behind it for sure. So often I wish I would win the lottery and use some of it to redo an abandoned house in the country. Dreams!!

Wow, Bonnie ... this painting is just amazing ... the whole area is so familiar to me somehow that this could easily be right down the road. I'm in the Shenandoah Valley ... and there are many beauties just like this one. You have really captured the entire visual, yes, but you've also incorporated the essence ... the vibe ... the spirit. I read your description and yep ... I'm the same way ... the old imagination just gets going and before I know it, I've dreamt up a whole story to go with these dear abandoned farmhouses. I am sorry to hear about the beautiful large Victorian homes in your town. Just breaks my heart. You are blessed to have a husband who is willing to keep your own home going.
